Recognize that the volume can be found as follows:

(average height of trapezoid) * (8 ft)(13 ft) = 286 ft^3 total volume.

Then (8 ft)(13 ft) (ave ht of trap) = 286 ft^3.
                                                             286 ft^3
Solving for (ave ht of trap):  (ave ht) = = 2.75 ft
                                                               104 ft^2

Thus, [ 2 ft + (?) ] / 2 = 2.75 ft.

Remove the fraction by mult. both sides by 2:  2 ft + (?) = 5.5 ft

Subtr. 2 from both sides, we get (?) = 3.5 ft

The missing dimension is 3.5 ft.

#16:  Let's clear the fraction on the way to solving this inequality for x.  By mult. the given inequality by 2, we'll get -2 (is greater than) x+4.  We want x to be positive.  So, leave it where it is.  Subtract 4 from both sides of this inequality.  We end up with -6 (is greater than) x, which is the same thing as x (is less than) -6.  What would the graph of that simple inequality look like?

Graph it.  (Hint:  The graph is a straight dashed line, and you must shade one side of it, but not the other side.

25

Step-by-step explanation:

For each problem, the two numbers on the left are perfect squares. The number in the upper right is the square of the difference between the two numbers on the left. The number on the bottom right is equal to the number on the upper right plus the number on the upper left.

For problem 16, we know that the square of the difference between 36 and the missing number is 121. The square root of 121 is 11, so the missing number is 36 - 11 = 25 which fits the pattern because it is also a perfect square.

(Also if you look at problem 15, it basically gives you the answer to problem 16.)

See below

Step-by-step explanation:

The upper left box and the bottom left box are being subtracted. When the result is obtained we square it and the squared answer is written in the top right box. After that , the squared answer and the top left answer are added to get the bottom left answer.

A skin cell is something that stays on your body your entire life, so naturally it contains all of your DNA only.

However, an egg cell is meant for reproduction, and is meant to be combined with a sperm to form a new being. Everyone receives half of their DNA from their mother and half from their father, so an egg cell only contains half of the DNA compared to that of a skin cell.

Hope this helps!

Hello,

a_{0}=2
a_{1}=2*(-2)=-4
a_{2}=2*(-2)^2=2*4=8
a_{3}=2*(-2)^3=2*(-8)=-16

a_{n}=2*(-2)^{n}

a_{20}=2*(-2)^{20}=2*1048576=2097152
